Finally, there is some light at the end of the tunnel for Red Bull junior Liam Lawson. He has been tussling off the grid to secure a seat for the 2025 F1 season and it has recently come to light that he will be announced as an RB driver for next year after this week’s Singapore GP.
If this certainly happens to be the case, Liam Lawson will take the place of eight-time Grand Prix winner Daniel Ricciardo. The latter has not done himself any favors with his lackluster 2024 run and thus, is all set to be replaced by Lawson.
Some time back, the Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko revealed that the New Zealander’s future within the Red Bull setup will be announced in Singapore. Moreover, at that time, several speculated whether Ricciardo was going to get sacked.
Now with just a few days remaining until the start of the Singapore GP weekend, LWOS has revealed about the Lawson 2025 signing. From Ricciardo’s position, this could prove to be the end of his career at the pinnacle of motor racing.
Daniel Ricciardo eyeing to score ‘points’ at Marina Bay Circuit
While Liam Lawson is on his way toward a permanent 2025 birth on the F1 grid, Daniel Ricciardo still has seven races to prove his mettle. He has so far managed only 12 points in the ongoing campaign and is thus, eyeing for a points finish at this week’s event.
However, it is easier said than done keeping in view certain factors.
I really enjoy the Marina Bay Street Circuit. It’s one of my favourite tracks. I didn’t race here last year, so I’m looking forward to being back. It’s super hot and humid, which is an additional challenge. Hopefully we can perform better than what we showed in Baku. We’re working hard as a team to understand this and improve. I’m excited to get back on this track and try to score some points.Daniel Ricciardo via RB
Despite the ongoing Lawson rumors, Ricciardo is fully focused on his job around the tricky Marina Bay Street Circuit. The Singapore GP has always proven to be a physically demanding event and it will be the same this year as well for the 20 drivers.
Ricciardo’s RB teammate Yuki Tsunoda has easily proved himself as the dominant driver on the team this year. Keeping this in view, the 34-year-old would ideally want to assert his dominance in the remaining races of the 2024 season.
