Liam Lawson declares no change in driving style while partnering Max Verstappen at Red Bull

Liam Lawson has finally been announced as a Red Bull Racing driver for 2025. The 22-year-old will replace Sergio Perez to partner Max Verstappen as teammate. Now, the Kiwi driver has made it clear that his promotion won’t change his way of racing.
Lawson declared that he always tries to push his rivals to the limit, including his teammates. The 22-year-old emphasized that this was just his way of driving. Liam Lawson insisted that his aggressive approach was not personal towards any driver in particular.
I will always try and make it as tough as possible. That’s how I’ve always raced and it’s never personal against any driver.

As such, the Kiwi driver affirmed that he will not change how he approaches on-track battles even against teammate Max Verstappen. This could potentially become a concern for Red Bull as Verstappen is no stranger to aggressive wheel-to-wheel combat.

Lawson admitted that during his early days in the world of motorsport, his parents sold their house to keep his dream alive. he recognized that this was a massive deal as his parents did everything in their power to keep him racing in the early days. The 22-year-old highlighted that even go-karting was too costly. Later on, Liam Lawson became part of Red Bull’s junior program that has funded his career since.

My parents sold their house so that I could keep racing. It’s massive. They gave absolutely everything for me to be able to race, even just go-karts because it’s so expensive.

Certainly, motorsport is an expensive affair. Families are forced to make such sacrifices to keep their children on the track. It is getting increasing difficult for low or middle income families to have their kids create a racing career without external backing.
