Liam Lawson will race for Red Bull Racing in 2025 alongside Max Verstappen. The Kiwi driver replaces Sergio Perez after the Mexican was ousted before the start of the year. Now, Lawson has pointed out that he will benefit greatly by being Verstappen’s teammate.

The 23-year-old claimed that having Max Verstappen as his teammate during his first full season was a big opportunity. The four-time world champion will race in his tenth season at Milton Keynes this year, and knows every aspect of Red Bull’s F1 operations.

There’s more opportunity than ever to have someone like him as a teammate, somebody who’s been in this team for 10 years and obviously he’s just won the last four world championships.

So much so, Liam Lawson asserted that there was no driver better than Max Verstappen when it comes to being a teammate. The 23-year-old highlighted that his data will be correlated with Verstappen’s running over the course of the season. As such, Lawson will be able to learn from the Dutch driver and improve his performances.

There’s nobody better to align everything that I’m doing with because all of our data is going to be shared.

Lawson admitted that partnering Verstappen was not going to be so easy. The Kiwi driver will need to ensure he doesn’t stay far behind the 27-year-old this season. Liam Lawson confessed that this was going to be a challenge. Yet, he insisted that he was ready to try and make the most of it.

But obviously at the same time, having somebody so quick and competitive is going to come with its challenges. So for me, it’s just about making the most of that.

Liam Lawson explained

Certainly, Liam Lawson will need to stay cautious as he heads for his first season at Red Bull. Lawson’s predecessors like Sergio Perez have not had it easy against Verstappen. Though, if the 23-year-old remains calm and plays his cards right, he could secure his long-term future at Milton Keynes.
