Earlier in the season, Charles Leclerc and his teammate Carlos Sainz expressed worries about tire wear hurting Ferrari’s race performance. Tracks in Canada and Austria are known for being tough on tires. However, Ferrari strengthened by planning smart strategies in Montreal and adopting a competitive approach at the Red Bull Ring.

Marc Gené confirmed on SoyMotor.com that Ferrari had fixed the tire degradation problem, eliminating any weak points in the SF-23. Marc Gené commented on SoyMotor’s Twitch channel that he believed they no longer had any problems and were no longer concerned about the degradation issue. He mentioned that they performed well in Canada and Austria, and the degradation was not a problem in Silverstone.

Ferrari impressed in Austria, with Charles Leclerc taking second and Carlos Sainz finishing sixth. However, the British Grand Prix brought disappointment, as Leclerc and Sainz settled for tenth and eleventh, respectively, making it a challenging weekend. Nevertheless, Marc Gené remains confident, assuring there is no cause for concern ahead of the upcoming race in Hungary.

Gené mentioned that Ferrari’s goal in Hungary was not to reaffirm anything, as they had resolved the set-up and degradation issue. Their focus now was on strong performances and aiming for podiums. He expressed optimism about Hungary, pleased with the progress made since Canada. With a newfound mindset, they approached races without major weaknesses in their car.

“We are not going to Hungary to reconfirm anything, because we have solved the set-up and degradation issue. Now we have to have good races and get podiums when possible. Now we go into the races with a different mentality, we don’t have any real weak points in our car,” the Spaniard said.

After entering the 2023 season with high hopes, Ferrari has fallen short of expectations. Until now, the Scuderia have only clinched two podiums, both secured by Charles Leclerc. In the drivers’ standings, teammate Carlos Sainz leads Leclerc in 5th place with 83 points. At the same time, the Monegasque sits in P7. Ferrari is fourth in the constructors’ standings behind rivals Mercedes and Aston Martin.
