Carlos Sainz the three-time Grand Prix winner, will be seen repping the blue and white gear of Williams from next year onwards. Everyone is looking forward to this transition and while several top personalities have had their say on it, the Ex-F1 driver Marc Surer has also come forward to give his verdict.
Marc Surer is of the opinion that Alex Albon is in for a mighty challenge going up against the versatile Carlos Sainz. He genuinely feels Albon will find it extremely tough trying to match the might of the current Ferrari driver.
Sainz is considered by many as one of the best drivers on the modern F1 grid.
Basically, they will be on a similar level in terms of speed. That's a saying from Bernie Ecclestone, who said there are 'fast drivers and lucky drivers', and for me Sainz is one such 'lucky driver', and that's why he will probably achieve better results.Marc Surer via Formula1.de YouTube Channel
The Spaniard has been racing in F1 for a long time and has proven time and again that he is fast as well as consistent. Albon on the other hand, has not had a strong driver alongside him at Williams for quite some time and this is one of the reasons why he has amassed tremendous applause in recent times. However, from 2025 onwards, he is in for a mighty battle.
James Vowles deems signing Carlos Sainz a ‘huge event’ for Williams
While Surer has indicated that Albon is in for a tough ride alongside Sainz, Williams boss James Vowles is ecstatic with the 2025 arrival of the Spaniard. Vowles’ had to fight tooth and nail to beat rival teams to Sainz’s signature.
The 29-year-old has so far competed in 196 Grand Prix.
I think it's a huge, huge event for Williams, to have two of the best drivers in the world fighting in the front. And I think it is very much a sign of things to come - the fact that we are prepared to have the investment required to be there. A lot of it you can't see.James Vowles via Racingnews365
The Williams team is upbeat about the 2025 season of the pinnacle of motor racing. Albon has improved 10-folds as a racing driver and with Sainz’s arrival, the Grove-based outfit has a solid line-up. The duo could make some major waves in the lower/midfield of the F1 grid from next year onwards.
