The 2025 season has not been going Lewis Hamilton‘s way, and he is facing massive performance issues. The seven-time champion has failed to score any notable results with Ferrari in his debut year with them. Moreover, the 40-year-old is often seen frustrated on the team radio while driving the SF-25 Challenger. As such, due to Hamilton’s critical behavior, ex-F1 driver Marc Surer has fired some shots at the former.

Lewis Hamilton had remained vocal about the unexpected issues he faced at Maranello. The struggles were so bad that Hamilton even confessed to missing his former team, Mercedes. The Briton even sent documents to the team in hopes of improving the pace of the SF-25 car.

However, the team’s performance has not improved, and the 40-year-old is giving up on caring about his mediocre race finishes. Amid the massive backlash and criticism from Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari, Marc Surer believes that it isn’t necessary to do so.

Surer recalled Hamilton’s early championship-winning days and revealed why he achieved so much success in the sport. The Swiss did not mince his words while calling Hamilton a spoiled child, who only drove fast and successful cars in his career.

Now that Ferrari’s challenger isn’t the fastest on the track, Lewis Hamilton isn’t able to win races anymore like he did with fast cars. Marc Surer asserted that as soon as the car did not suit Hamilton, or if it wasn’t dominant as compared to the rivals, the 40-year-old then ran into problems and was unable to keep up with positive results.

Lewis Hamilton is simply a spoiled child who has always driven the best cars. If the car suits him, he wins hands down, But as soon as he doesn’t have the fastest car, he runs into problems.

Marc Surer told Austrian magazine Vollgas.

Marc Surer ‘did not expect’ intense Lewis Hamilton Ferrari downfall

In the first 17 rounds out of 24 total, Lewis Hamilton’s best result is only a sprint race win in China. Hamilton has failed to contend for even a podium finish, let alone a race win. Despite having such massive experience, the 40-year-old is unable to fight with the younger generation of drivers on track and make their lives harder to score great results.

Marc Surer asserted that he did not expect Lewis Hamilton to face so many issues at Ferrari. The Swiss reckoned that the 40-year-old’s experience should have helped him score much better results. However, such wasn’t the case, and Hamilton suffered from a desperate performance slump.

Moreover, Surer recalled how the Briton was beaten by his teammate George Russell at Mercedes, and the same was happening against Charles Leclerc at Maranello.

I did not expect that. I thought he would still shine in the races thanks to his experience, But that is not happening. On the other hand, he already struggled over the past two years alongside George Russell. At Ferrari, he now has an extremely fast team-mate in Charles Leclerc.

Marc Surer noted.

Certainly, Ferrari needs to implement massive changes in their car in order to make it competitive enough to fight for better results. Lewis Hamilton is giving it his all, but is still unable to make winning races a habit. Time will tell about how the 40-year-old copes with the massive struggles and scores better results in the races to come.
