McLaren’s highly positive pace in the 2024 season has enabled Oscar Piastri to score some impressive performances on the track. The Azerbaijan GP masterclass from the Aussie had left the entire paddock in awe. As a result, the Ex-F1 driver Mark Webber, who also manages Piastri shared his opinion on the latter’s recent performances.
Mark Webber pointed out the great pressure on Oscar Piastri with Charles Leclerc breathing down his neck at the Azerbaijan GP. Webber noted that Piastri was against a world-class driver during his outing in Baku. Additionally, the Ex-F1 driver believed that beating the Monegasque around the street circuit was a ‘pretty big deal.’
Obviously, [he was] under a lot of pressure, defensive, very decisive in the move itself, and up against a world-class driver. Charles around here is absolutely magical. So to beat him around here is a pretty big deal.Mark Webber told Sky Sports
Subsequently, Webber recalled the difficulty of driving around the slim streets of the Baku City Circuit. The discipline and precision required to drive around the circuit is definitely not the game of the amateurs. As a result, Webber didn’t hesitate to label Piastri as a ‘world-class’ driver amidst such performances.
To pull off grands prix like that around a place like this, the discipline required, getting the move done and then leading from the front was pretty world-class, to say the least.Mark Webber noted

Mark Webber claimed Oscar Piastri did an ‘extraordinary job’ against Lando Norris at McLaren
Some of Oscar Piastri’s performances in the 2024 season have put Lando Norris to shame according to many people. Mark Webber reckoned that it was a ‘perception thing’ amidst the debate of the better driver. The Aussie noted that both drivers and the team had done a great job. Regardless, Webber placed Piastri over the others and believed that he had managed an ‘extraordinary job.’
It's a perception thing, and he's done an extraordinary job, of course, as has Lando, the whole team at McLaren. He's arrived but keeping the feet on the ground and working hard.Mark Webber added
McLaren has already achieved the lead in the constructors’ championship in the 2024 season after over a decade. Woking is on the trajectory to end the campaign on a high after winning the championship. Moreover, the coveted drivers’ championship is also on the table with multiple drivers fighting for it.
