Esteban Ocon had a disastrous Monaco GP. The French driver tried to overtake his teammate Pierre Gasly on the opening lap. However, this led to a massive collision which ended his race. Alpine has already warned Ocon over possible repercussions for this move. Now, F1 Presenter Martin Brundle has warned the Alpine driver over his history of incidents in the sport.

Ocon had similar incidents against Sergio Perez at Force India, as well as Fernando Alonso at Alpine. Brundle cited that the Frenchman was undoubtedly a quick driver. However, the F1 pundit claimed that Esteban Ocon seemed to have an irrational red mist when it came to racing hard against his teammates in the sport.

Ocon is a fine and fast racing driver. history clearly demonstrates that he has an irrational red mist when it comes to racing, particularly against his team-mates.

Martin Brundle insisted that this would end up costing Esteban Ocon immensely. As no front-running team would want such an aggressive mentality from its driver. Brundle even reckoned that it could be the case for all teams. Alpine is reportedly considering replacing Ocon as early as the next round in Canada.

It will cost Esteban heavily as no front-running team would entertain that kind of mentality, or even perhaps any team.

Martin Brundle affirms Esteban Ocon simply cannot ‘attack’ his teammate

In Formula 1, a teammate is the driver’s first competitor. With the difference in performance across the grid, only two drivers with the same car could be compared in terms of pace. However, one must always avoid crashing into their teammate as it would be disastrous for the team.

Martin Brundle highlighted that F1 is a team sport with hundreds of individuals working back at the factory. Every team spends hundreds of millions in car development with sponsors paying huge sums to have their logos on the car. As such, the F1 Presenter asserted that Esteban Ocon simply could not attack his teammate on-track.

A driver represents hundreds of hard-working and professional people, and hundreds of millions of pounds of investment and sponsorship when driving for an F1 team. You simply can't keep attacking your one team-mate with abandon.
Martin Brundle concluded

Esteban Ocon had apologized after the incident. However, it seems that the Frenchman’s future is now on thin ice. It is likely that Ocon would get to continue for the remainder of the season. Although, one more mistake and the former Mercedes reserve could be shown the door by the Enstone-based squad.
