Oscar Piastri‘s improving performances in the 2024 season have people questioning the driver’s chances at the world championship. McLaren’s performance has enabled both Lando Norris and Piastri to have a shot at championship contention. However, F1 pundit Martin Brundle believes that the Australian has no interest in Norris’ title ambitions against Max Verstappen.

Oscar Piastri continues to focus on his performances in the season rather than Lando Norris‘ championship chances against Max Verstappen. Martin Brundle claimed that Piastri had no interest in Norris’ title possibilities. Additionally, Brundle noted that he admired the Aussie’s ‘attitude’ in terms of driving against his teammate in the season.

Clearly Piastri has no interest in Norris' title possibilities against Verstappen. We had already seen him in Hungary when he had taken the lead at the first corner, and the sportsman in me admires his attitude.

Brundle believed that these attributes of Piastri enabled him to achieve so much so quickly. Brundle didn’t hesitate to declare that Norris’ chance of winning the championship didn’t excite Piastri much. Hence, due to these circumstances, both McLaren drivers will continue to put forth exciting battles in the remaining races.

This is why Oscar has won championships in his career and ended up racing in F1 on a winning car. For sure, the last thing that excites him is to think that Lando can become world champion on his own machine.

Oscar Piastri has not ‘helped’ Lando Norris yet in the 2024 season

Martin Brundle pointed towards Oscar Piastri’s killer mentality and instinct while fighting on track. Brundle was sure that Piastri would try his best to help Lando Norris in his path to the championship victory. However, the Briton noted that the 23-year-old was yet to help Norris in the battle so far in the 2024 season.

This obviously does not mean that he will not help him at some point, but in the meantime he has not done it so far. And I think such a killer mentality and instinct are important for a pilot.

Piastri will continue to score well down the season as McLaren will aim to build the gap between the rival teams. Woking has already set their foot firmly in the standings after taking the championship lead. Hence, the remainder of the season will witness the rival team’s attempt at managing a comeback.
