Formula 1 announced radical changes to the 2026 power unit regulations and the chassis building. Multiple teams might have a shot at improving and overturning their performance. However, amidst Red Bull’s tumultuous 2024 pace, Max Verstappen asserted that the new regulations weren’t a question mark just for them.

Speaking about the upcoming 2026 F1 regulations, Max Verstappen claimed that they were a question mark to the teams. The new regulations meant the outfits would have to build a completely new engine and chassis. Hence, the regulations were a question mark to even those teams who believed they were in the best position.

It’s a question mark to every team. It’s a completely new car and engine. It’s a question mark for everyone, also for the people who think they are in the best position right now.

Additionally, several outfits will start working on the simulator early on in hopes of gaining knowledge before the season starts. Regardless, the teams will still need real-life data from the chassis to work on improving the pace. As a result, Verstappen reckoned that the question marks would stay up until the 2026 season would get going.

There’s always the question of whether you really did such a great job, and it will stay that way [until the 2026 season starts].

Max Verstappen ‘not thinking’ about changing teams for 2026

Multiple teams were extremely eager to acquire the reigning world champion Max Verstappen, with Mercedes being the most desperate. The Dutchman had showcased his loyalty to Red Bull despite the massive team switch rumors. Amidst this, Verstappen reckoned that changing teams was possible but this wasn’t something he was thinking about currently.

Yes, of course, I know it’s possible, but I’m not really thinking about it right now. I think at the moment I have enough to worry about with other things we want to do better.

Red Bull’s dwindling pace has been met with massive criticism from Verstappen. Milton Keynes must immediately work on improving their form to enable the Dutchman to win the 2024 championship. He might start considering other options if he isn’t satisfied with the prospects provided by the Austrian constructor.
