F1 drivers communicate to their respective teams through onboard radios. These messages are available for viewers to listen and are broadcasted during sessions. However, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem had raised eyebrows over drivers swearing on team radios. Now, Max Verstappen has hit back at Ben Sulayem.
The FIA President had stated that drivers were not rappers and that they had to keep using the ‘F-word’ during races. During the press conference at the Singapore GP, Max Verstappen addressed Mohammed Ben Sulayem‘s comments and was surprised that he was told not to say the curse word.
I couldn't even say the F word..., it's not even that bad.Max Verstappen said during a Press conference
Moreover, an annoyed Verstappen went further and asked if Ben Sulayem thought he was just a five or six-year-old kid. The Dutch driver made it clear that he was not in agreement with the FIA President’s comments and might try to continue to speak censor-free on team radio.
What are we, 5 year olds 6 year olds?Max Verstappen asked

Max Verstappen claims FIA’s swearing ban ‘won’t change anything’
The reigning world champion doubled down on his stance. Max Verstappen highlighted that even five-year-olds were watching the race broadcast, eventually they would learn to swear. The Dutch driver pointed out that irrespective of what a kid’s parents would want, children do end up swearing nonetheless. As such, Verstappen asserted that the swearing ban would not change anything.
Even if a five or six-year-old is watching, they will eventually swear anyway, even if the parents want or they will not allow it, when they grow up, they will walk around with their friends and swearing, so this is not changing anything.Max Verstappen said, as reported by Racingnews365
Certainly, Max Verstappen is far from happy from being forced to not swear on the team radio. The Dutch driver believes that drivers should be able to express what’s in their mind without having to censor themselves. However, it remains to be seen how the FIA would react to these comments.
