The Formula 1 paddock paid tribute to Ayrton Senna‘s 30th death anniversary at the Emilia Romagna GP. All the people on the track wore a special shirt to honor Senna’s crash at the circuit. Max Verstappen was spotted donning a Red Bull jersey while on the track. Hence, the 26-year-old received high amounts of backlash for this situation. However, it has been revealed that the special shirt was potentially stolen from the Dutchman.
Max Verstappen was under fire from the majority of the Formula 1 community for this situation. However, the fans turned a blind eye towards Valtteri Bottas who was also spotted in normal clothing. This event was spearheaded by four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel. Regardless of the hate, the 26-year-old didn’t directly respond to the criticism online.
However, according to recent reports, Verstappen’s special Ayrton Senna t-shirt was stolen before the tribute. Additionally, even Valtteri Bottas’ shirt was stolen from the paddock before starting the tribute. Hence, this was the reason behind the two drivers not wearing the t-shirt. No additional information has been released regarding this rare occurrence to the public.
