Max Verstappen has been at the center of attention in the F1 paddock lately. Despite having a valid contract till the end of 2028 with Red Bull, rumors claim that Verstappen is in discussions with Mercedes for a switch as early as next season. While the reigning world champion has continued to rule out such a possibility, he has finally given a clear goal for his Red Bull tenure.

The 27-year-old has been part of the Red Bull family for over a decade. He was promoted to Milton Keynes at the 2016 Spanish GP, a race that he won with a stellar performance. Since then, Max Verstappen has become the driving force behind Red Bull Racing’s success with four consecutive world titles. Moreover, no teammate has even come close to his performances for the better half of a decade at the Austrian team.

If Max Verstappen was to leave Red Bull, it would be a devastating blow to the Austrian team. McLaren CEO Zak Brown claimed that Milton Keynes will fall behind its own sister team, Racing Bulls if this happens next year.

Luckily for Red Bull, Max Verstappen has expressed his desire to see out his entire F1 career at the team. The four-time world champion reckoned that it would be a fascinating achievement if he only raced within the Red Bull family for the entirety of his career. Verstappen indicated that despite the current struggles, he hoped to accomplish this feat.

I always said to the team it would be ideal, and I think they think the same way, to finish off my career in Formula 1 with one team. I think that would be something amazing, and that’s what we are still trying to achieve.

The reigning world champion did not really answer whether such speculation was correct. Rather, Verstappen was simply focused on his performances at Red Bull, pointing out that he still has a valid contract. This has been the Dutchman’s stance over this topic for the past few months, with no real interest being shown in the rumors. However, this has not stopped such reports from surfacing in the media.

Is there any truth… to be honest, I have nothing more to add to that, with what I already said last week. Anyway, I have a contract with the team, we just focus on performance.

Max Verstappen’s camp was even believed to have demanded the removal of Christian Horner from Red Bull Racing. While there has been no confirmation from Verstappen’s management, it could hint as a sort of an ultimatum to Milton Keynes, if they want to retain the Dutchman for the future. The coming weeks will be interesting in the F1 driver market.
