Stuart Pringle, the Silverstone MD, recently blamed Max Verstappen’s dominance for a lack of sales od tickets for the 2024 British GP. Silverstone is home to both Mercedes drivers, and fans might not want to watch Verstappen dominate over Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
The organisers of the British GP stated that the main reason for poor tickets sales was Max Verstappen and Red Bull’s dominance. Verstappen claimed that it is not his fault upon tickets not being sold at the Silverstone. The 26-year-old said, there are many races with stand being packed with fans the problem isn’t with the F1 season. He observed, people are clearly interested and excited for the races. If the promoters are not being able to sell the tickets, they should reconsider their approach, says Verstappen.
I don't think it's my fault. The current F1 season is very exciting, with several teams fighting for wins lately. If a promoter cannot fill all the seats, maybe they need to first look at themselves and see what they're doing wrong.Max Verstappen told DeTelegraph
Verstappen claimed other venues are not having any trouble attracting large crowds. Silverstone’s marketing management team should manage the event well enough or maybe the tickets prices are too high for everyone. It is important for their marketing team on what they can improve rather than blaming Verstappen on lack of tickets sale. Recently, Lewis Hamilton cited high ticket prices for this lack of sales.
In other places they're managing to fill the stands quite easily.Max Verstappen added
Max Verstappen not worried over upgrades brought by rivals for Spanish GP
Max Verstappen claimed he’s not too worried about his rivals bringing upgrade to the upcoming weekend. He said that teams are always making improvements and sometimes Red Bull has a better weekend than others because of how the car is set up. Verstappen reckoned, on some weekend’s everything falls into the teams favor and other times it fails to work out. The 26-year-old says everyone in the team is constantly trying to be better each race.
It’s difficult to say. People are constantly improving, and sometimes you just have a better weekend than others with the way you set up the car.Max Verstappen told RACER
The Dutchman acknowledged, teams can bring upgrades, but it all comes down to how well you set up your car. He suggested an example of F2, where all the cars have same specifications, but there’s still a big difference in performance. Teams can still make mistakes in how they set up and operate the cars. This shows that having the right setup and operation is crucial, even if everyone has the same equipment.
You can bring upgrades but if you don’t put the right setup on the car, look at F2, there’s still a big difference and still can make mistakes in teams and operations with the same spec cars.Max Verstappen stated
Overall, Max Verstappen reckoned, just having upgrades on car’s isn’t much enough, the team must use them correctly to make a real difference. Fans, would love to see Verstappen clinch another victory in Barcelona and upcoming races, scoring points for the team and himself.
