Max Verstappen has had a controversial 2024 season. The Dutch driver had a handful of on-track clashes with Lando Norris. F1 drivers want to tweak racing guidelines. Rumors emerged that Verstappen was the only one against such a change. However, the 27-year-old has now defended himself over such speculation.

Grand Prix Drivers’ Association (GPDA) President George Russell had revealed that only a single driver did not want changes to the racing guidelines. The Mercedes driver did not name any one in particular. Though, some speculated that it might be Max Verstappen.

The four-time world champion has now made it clear that he was not the one disagreeing with the rest of the grid. Verstappen explained that it was some other driver in particular who was the one in agreement or disagreement. The Dutchman did not name who it was.

Max Verstappen gives update over GPDA guidelines issue

Verstappen highlighted that GPDA needed to have more discussions to find the right solution to tweak the guidelines. Max Verstappen insisted that the problem relating to track limits depended on circuit layouts. Some tracks such as the Red Bull Ring witness such conflicts more often than a circuit like Baku.

We still need for sure a few more discussions about certain things. But I think it more has to do with the track layout.

Certainly, the issue over racing guidelines will remain prevalent for the coming months. It is unlikely that an agreement will be reached within this year. Nevertheless, Max Verstappen and the rest of the grid is eager to come to a solution to fix this issue for good.
