Max Verstappen does not see Red Bull as the ‘favorite’ in 2025

In light of this, Verstappen has his doubts going into the 2025 F1 season.

We won’t be the favourite next year, but that’s okay. We had problems and now we have to get going and change things. In the last 12 or 13 races, we were not the fastest. We have to change a lot to be first, but maybe it’s also good not to be the favourite for once.

The McLaren F1 team amassed the constructors championship for the first time since 1998 at the end of the 2024 season. The outfit secured 666 points in comparison to Red Bull’s 589.

One of the main factors behind this was the RB20 falling behind the lights of the MCL38 and Ferrari’s SF-24 in terms of raw pace. Verstappen, on many occasions, cut out as an extremely frustrated figure because of this reason. The fight in 2025 is expected to get even closer given that it is the last year of the ground-effect regulations.
