F1 fans scrolling online frequently come across video compilations of Max Verstappen. While fans love these clips, they’ve caused him plenty of trouble, leading to fines and penalties.
Meanwhile, after the Mexican GP post-race press conference, Verstappen called out the FIA’s new rule against swearing, suggesting it’s enforced unfairly since Charles Leclerc wasn’t penalized in a similar situation.
Although the no-swearing rule applies to all drivers, recent events suggest it’s mainly targeting Verstappen, as he’s the only one penalized so far. Officials gave Verstappen community service for swearing in Singapore, sparking frustration among fans.
However, when officials didn’t penalize Leclerc for swearing in Mexico, Verstappen noticed and called out the apparent double standard.
While the governing body seems to overlook Leclerc’s behavior, conversations about Verstappen’s aggressive racing style continue to circulate. Despite this, the Dutchman has made it clear that he sees this bias and isn’t afraid to speak up about it.
Charles Leclerc hopes to avoid punishment like Max Verstappen
Charles Leclerc stated that he faced an instance of oversteering during the Mexican GP when the back of the car lost grip and slid out. After regaining control, he encountered another oversteer from the opposite side. Frustrated by the situation, he said, “F***!” to convey his annoyance.
The Ferrari driver immediately said that he didn’t want to be in the same situation as Max Verstappen for swearing. Fortunately, he hasn’t received any punishment from the FIA so far.
The question arises now whether any other driver will face punishment after this incident. Since Verstappen highlighted the incident, it raised concerns about the stewards’ response and whether any additional actions would be taken.
