Max Verstappen has been a part of the Red Bull program for a decade. The Dutch driver made his F1 debut for Toro Rosso in 2015 before getting promoted to Milton Keynes four races into 2016. Since then, Verstappen has went on to create history with the Austrian team in Formula 1. However, rumors have surfaced that the 26-year-old could move elsewhere soon.

Presently, Max Verstappen is contracted to Red Bull till at least 2028. However, in Formula 1, teams and drivers always have exit clauses which allow them to break such a contract. Mercedes seem to be extremely interested in signing the Dutchman few weeks ago.

Max Verstappen’s Aston Martin move would depend on Adrian Newey

Aston Martin has invested hundreds of millions in F1 lately with a brand new factory as well as a partnership with Honda from 2026. Unfortunately, the Silverstone-based squad has not made major gains this year that could convince Max Verstappen. However, Lawrence Stroll might have the final piece of the puzzle to attract the reigning world champion.

F1 aero genius Adrian Newey announced his Red Bull exit earlier this year. The British engineer was rumored to go to Ferrari previously. However, reports have emerged that Aston Martin has given him a $100 million deal. Max Verstappen would certainly like to work with Newey again, considering how Red Bull has struggled since he decided to leave the team.

Aston Martin will become a works team in 2026 with Honda, Red Bull’s current supplier. As such, Max Verstappen would not find it difficult to adjust as he might see familiar faces on the power units team. Moreover, the partnership is a testament to how serious Stroll is about his team. The British squad aims to fight for the title in 2026.

Certainly, Max Verstappen cannot completely rule out such a move for the time being. This remains a long shot considering the Dutchman’s faith in Red Bull. Although, if Milton Keynes does not improve in the remainder of the 2024 season, fans could see Verstappen seriously considering what his future would look like at Silverstone.
