Max Verstappen had an extremely difficult time at the Monaco GP. The Dutchman couldn’t bring home the pole position for the race as he could only manage a P6 starting position. As a result, during the live running of the race, the 26-year-old was ‘bored’ due to not being able to fight for overtakes on the circuit.

Max Verstappen faced a lot of struggles in his RB20 as he failed to score a good qualifying. The Dutchman’s chassis was proposing a lot and couldn’t score good lap times around the circuit. Charles Leclerc scored the pole position and is now having a smooth cruise for the race win. If the rival teams do not commit any mistakes, Red Bull has little to no chance of scoring the Grand Prix win.

The Monacan circuit is notoriously famous for its lack of overtaking opportunities. Verstappen is a victim of this very fact. The 26-year-old hasn’t overtaken anyone in the past 30 laps. Hence, the reigning world champion joked that he should’ve brought a ‘pillow’ with him in his car. The reason for this comment was that the Monaco GP is turning out extremely ‘boring’ for the world champion.

F**k me, this is boring. Should've brought my pillow.

Max Verstappen claims the ‘Fundamental’ RB20 issue won’t be fixed ‘within weeks’

The current problem that Verstappen has been facing in the RB20 has been coming up quite a lot. However, the previous editions of the challenger didn’t have this issue quite prevalent. The team already lost out on two races, three accounting for the Monaco GP. The Dutchman didn’t hold back when speaking about the major issue in the challenger.

The 26-year-old claimed that this issue wasn’t something ‘new’ for the team during the ground-effect era. This problem has been present in the challengers since 2022. Additionally, Verstappen reckoned that the ‘Fundamental’ issue in the chassis likely won’t be fixed within weeks.

It is not something new, we have had this problem since 2022. It's a fundamental problem, so it's not something that will be fixed within weeks.
Max Verstappen said, as reported by planetf1.com.

Red Bull will have to continuously work on the issue that has been causing Verstappen extreme difficulties to score the race win. The Dutchman could come extremely close to the rivals for the championship down the season if such results continue. The Austrian constructor would have to bring in multiple in-season upgrades to widen the gap from the rivals.
