Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has stood strong on his verdict against the FIA ahead of the 2024 United States Grand Prix. Verstappen was penalized for swearing during a press conference at the Singapore race weekend last month.

Max Verstappen has always been vocal about his thoughts, ever since his early days in Formula 1. He has often used colorful language to depict his feelings, which has not sat well with the FIA. The governing body therefore told him to do community service for his actions (dropping the F-bomb).

Verstappen has since cited the FIA’s punishment as unnecessary, claiming that kids oftentimes do not watch press conferences. He then supplemented his thought by saying that kids say much worse things at school in comparison.

Reporter: You were penalized by the FIA for swearing because children also watch F1 races and press conferences.
Verstappen: Kids watch press conferences? For example, when I was 5 years old, I didn’t watch press conferences. Kids say much worse things at school.

Max Verstappen said ahead of the United States GP

The FIA has not delivered any concrete verdict to Verstappen’s comments so far after the Singapore GP. The Dutchman will now seek to make a return to the top step this weekend to secure his chances in the fiercely contested driver’s championship tussle.

Max Verstappen accredits McLaren’s success to existing personnel within the team

McLaren has been a force to reckon with since the Miami Grand Prix earlier this season. The Woking-based team’s brilliance has propelled them to the top of the constructors’ championship standings for the first time since 2014.

McLaren has really put the right people in the right place, people that were already working at the team. The people there aren’t all new hires, apart from people like [former Red Bull designer] Rob Marshall. But some staff have been given new roles, and you can see how quickly that can have an impact.

Max Verstappen told motorsport.com

The three-time world champion has said that the Papayas have put the right people in the right place, which has improved their functioning. He also claimed that new roles have been given to existing staff, which has immediately made an impact for them.

Unlike McLaren, Red Bull has had important engineers and personnel depart over the course of the 2024 season. Many claim that the reason for the Milton-Keynes team’s instability lies with the departures as well.
