Max Verstappen was left fuming at the end of the Spanish GP due to his altercation with George Russell on track. The Briton had hit Verstappen heading into Turn 1 of the safety car restart and was not penalized for that. This angered the Dutchman as critics believed that the reigning world champion intentionally collided with the Mercedes star, which wasn’t welcomed with much enthusiasm. Now, the 27-year-old issues a hilarious statement against Russell’s comments on the matter.
George Russell wasn’t impressed with Max Verstappen‘s petty tactics at the Spanish GP, as the latter was clearly punished more. Moreover, Russell commented that the Dutchman did not set a good example for the younger generation that watched the sport and aspired to be F1 drivers. However, Verstappen wanted no part in these comments and responded brutally to the Briton’s claims.
Max Verstappen responded with sarcasm and left no room for remorse for Russell as the former stood firm on his belief. The Dutchman believed that the Mercedes star was the one who started the whole chain of problems. The 27-year-old brutally claimed that he would bring tissues next time to wipe the tears of anyone hurt that badly from the incident.
Okay, well, next time I’ll bring some tissues.
Max Verstappen told media including PlanetF1
Verstappen further added to his sarcastic comments and noted that everyone was entitled to their own opinion, as was George Russell. The 27-year-old believed that it was better to focus on his own races and performances rather than discuss these petty matters. Speaking on the race pace and performance, the reigning world champion highlighted that it was decent up until the safety car restart.
He has his view, I have my view, and honestly, it is just better to focus on the race, which was quite okay until the safety car.

Max Verstappen refuses to follow up with George Russell after Spanish GP fallout
Max Verstappen and George Russell aren’t the greatest of friends, as they have been involved in such accidents often. Moreover, the two have also gone through a massive war of words in the past. As such, this time was no different as Verstappen refused to make up or talk with Russell after the incident. This meant that the Dutchman stood strong on his belief that he wasn’t the one fully wrong in this situation.

Verstappen initially pointed out that one shouldn’t have many regrets in their life, as he refused to comment on the crash and the subsequent penalty. The reigning world champion also insisted that he did not plan to speak with Russell about the matter and clear any grudges. The two have often gone through such phases, but have made up with one another after some time and hold great respect for one another as drivers.
I have nothing to say, and that in life, you shouldn’t regret too many things, you only live once. I wouldn’t necessarily speak with him.
Max Verstappen noted
Red Bull’s strategy blunder was the final nail in the coffin for Verstappen’s patience as things turned into a total disaster following his pitstop. As such, the Spanish GP weekend would be one to forget for the team and the driver as they move onto the upcoming race. The 27-year-old will also have to remain extremely careful of penalties received, as one more penalty point could get him banned from competing for one race.
