In Short
  • Max Verstappen is interested in racing at Le Mans, ideally with Sebastian Vettel.
  • He aims to compete only if he can win and is with the right team.
  • Sebastian Vettel shares similar ambitions and has been in contact with Verstappen about the possibility.

Max Verstappen has always hinted at his interest in participating in various categories apart from Formula 1. The Dutchman had recently debuted at the GT3 session and achieved success in his very first entry. Now, Verstappen is also considering participating in the NLS 24 Hours of Nurburgring with Mercedes in a couple of months. Amid the F1 preparations, the four-time champion has revealed how he dreams of running the Le Mans with former Red Bull star Sebastian Vettel.

Sebastian Vettel remained one of the many people that Max Verstappen deeply admired. The Dutchman was even open to the idea of Vettel joining Red Bull in a leadership position amid the team’s problematic state. As such, Verstappen doesn’t have to think twice to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans if the German is going to partner him in the category.

The 2026 session of Le Mans is impossible for Max Verstappen to participate in, especially since it coincides with the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix. Regardless, Verstappen noted that he would love to race in Le Mans, but only if he was capable of winning races and was running with the right team. The four-time champion doesn’t want to participate for the sake of it; rather, wants to achieve success.

Max Verstappen wasn’t definitive with his answer about participating in Le Mans in the near future. However, the Dutchman joked about how Fernando Alonso was going to keep racing until he was 75 years old. As such, Verstappen is sure that he’ll find atleast one year to race in Le Mans, perhaps with Alonso or Sebastian Vettel, who knows.

I would love to do that, but of course, only if we’re able to fight for wins, and you need to be with the right team. So it is difficult to say at the moment when it could happen, but I heard Fernando [Alonso] is racing until he is 75, so I’m sure we’ll find a time and a year to race together.

Max Verstappen said, as reported by RacingNews365.

Sebastian Vettel shares similar ambitions to Max Verstappen for Le Mans

Sebastian Vettel was a winning machine back in his dominant days at Red Bull. Similar to Max Verstappen, Vettel dominated the track from 2010 to 2013, picking up four consecutive title wins. Now, when it comes to Le Mans, the German has similar ambitions to Verstappen and is looking forward to racing in it alongside the 28-year-old.

Sebastian Vettel revealed that he has been in regular contact with Max Verstappen for quite some time now. Vettel highlighted that if everything aligned well, he would race in Le Mans alongside the Dutchman. He added that it had been a dream for him for quite some time, and he wanted to try his hand at Le Mans despite the winning chances. Certainly, it will be an extremely interesting pair to witness.

I have regular contact with Max, and we’ve already spoken a couple of years ago that if it comes together, we’d drive Le Mans together, [It is a] little dream.

Sebastian Vettel told ServusTV.

For now, Max Verstappen will have to set his focus on the 2026 season and the upcoming regulations. The Dutchman might face problems performing well under the new regulations. Regardless, Verstappen has showcased great resilience and determination and has kept up with impressive results despite the circumstances. Certainly, a Le Mans entry with both Vettel and Verstappen would be a thrill to witness for the fans worldwide.
