Max Verstappen suffered from a season full of massive ups and downs in 2025. The problems were so intense that the Dutchman was rumored to consider quitting the team by the end of the year. However, Verstappen remained utterly loyal to the Red Bull project and delivered a shocking resurgence in performance. Now, with the 2026 season right around the corner, the Dutchman has delivered yet another clear message about racing for Milton Keynes.
Red Bull suffered from massive issues throughout the 2025 season. The team underwent a massive personnel change, and Max Verstappen suffered from a massive slump. However, Laurent Mekies’ leadership allowed the team to improve its performance for the better. As such, Verstappen reassured that he was hoping to end his career with the same team that gave him his all in F1.
Max Verstappen has often showcased interest in participating in other racing categories following his F1 exit. Moreover, the Dutchman even felt he had achieved everything he wanted from the pinnacle of motorsport. Still, he has a contract with Milton Keynes that runs until the end of the 2028 season.
As such, Max Verstappen highlighted that he was 28 years of age and had a contract with Red Bull. Verstappen asserted that he wanted to fulfill his contract and stay true to the team. The four-time champion clearly ruled out any possibility of changing his team at the pinnacle of motorsport. The Dutchman has remained with the Red Bull project for the entirety of his motorsport career, and hence, it is understandable that he expresses his full-fledged loyalty to the team.
I’m 28 now and I have a contract with Red Bull until 2028, I want to fulfil that contract. At this point in time, I’m ruling out a change of team.

During Red Bull’s internal struggle, Helmut Marko‘s name kept coming up on multiple occasions. The 82-year-old, though an amazing talent seeker, had some moments of controversy as well. Moreover, the power struggle between him and Christian Horner led to the team’s apparent downfall in recent years. As such, Marko exited the team following the culmination of the 2025 season.

Max Verstappen had very close ties with Helmut Marko despite the latter’s controversial side. Hence, Verstappen wasn’t too thrilled on hearing about Marko’s exit from the constructor. The Dutchman noted that it would be a shame not to have his friend and mentor by his side in the coming season. The four-time champion declared that he would certainly miss the 82-year-old in the years to come.

The 2026 season will introduce new regulations, and with that, massive uncertainties for multiple teams on the grid. Red Bull will develop its own power units in collaboration with Ford. As such, Max Verstappen will be faced with a massive new challenge in the coming season. With the beginning right around the corner, the Dutchman will prepare well for the challenges and hope to remain the same indomitable force that he always has been on the grid.
