Max Verstappen has often showcased his love for cats in PR videos and social media posts. The Dutchman is a proud owner of two Bengal cats and recently added a kitten named Donatello to his family. While fans have debated his preference for pets, Verstappen’s affection for cats made it easier for the fans to draw conclusions.
Max Verstappen owned a dog named Spyke, who sadly passed away in December 2020. Since then, the 27-year-old preferred to adopt cats over dogs. The 27-year-old’s cats have also been funnily spotted in his livestreams during the off-season in Formula 1. He has always showcased a loving and patient attitude towards his feline friends.
In a recent interview by Sportskeeda, Verstappen cleared that he was a Dog person despite nurturing three cats. The 27-year-old highlighted that he grew up with both cats and dogs and figured that the former were more self-sufficient while he was traveling during races. Moreover, the Dutchman reckoned that taking care of dogs was similar to that of a child which made it more difficult.
I am a dog person. I grew up with dogs and cats, just that cats are a bit more self-sufficient at home, you know, and when I’m traveling a lot to take care of a dog, it’s like a child. So it’s a bit more difficult.

Max Verstappen uninterested in bringing a dog to Formula 1 during races
Although Max Verstappen doesn’t own any Dogs, the Dutchman wouldn’t be up for bringing the pet to races. He already doesn’t travel with his cats as they are never spotted during a race weekend. The reigning world champion asserted that traveling with pets especially dogs would be stressful. Moreover, everyone would want to pet the cute little animals which would further be problematic.
No, even if I would have a dog, I wouldn’t want the dog to come here because it’s very stressful. Everyone wanting to touch him, it’s not nice for a dog.

Verstappen’s long-time girlfriend Kelly Piquet recently announced her pregnancy while the former was being hailed as the fourth-time world champion. The Dutchman’s loving family alongside the adorable cats would make for a perfect environment for the new kid. As a result, the coming time would be highly lovable and interesting for the 27-year-old star of Formula 1.
