Max Verstappen triumphed in the 2024 F1 drivers’ world championship. He produced a strong campaign in a lackluster RB20 but on the constructors’ front, Red Bull missed out on amassing the title against the Woking-based McLaren.
The situation was so bad that the Milton-Keynes-based team ended up in third place even behind the Ferrari outfit. In light of this, Max Verstappen has asserted that 2025 will be fiercely contested among the top teams.
Red Bull managed to amass only 589 points in the constructors championship. Ferrari managed 652 whereas McLaren came out trumps with 666 points. The Woking-based outfit secured the constructors’ for the first time since 1998 after the Abu Dhabi GP.
Max Verstappen immensely impressed with his Red Bull F1 team
While Max Verstappen has cut out as a bit of a dejected figure following Red Bulls’ failure at amassing the constructors, he has also taken the opportunity to praise his team. The 27-year-old believes his team did not succumb to the pressure in the 2024 campaign.
The Austrian outfit had a horrific run, especially during the middle phase of the 2024 season.
Red Bulls’ Achilles heel in the 2024 campaign, other than the inconsistent RB20 was Sergio Perez‘s horrendous form. Had the Mexican pulled his weight, the situation could have been a bit different in the constructors’.
Verstappen could have a new teammate for 2025 with Liam Lawson being seen as one of the favorites. The New Zealander is highly rated but so was Perez when he first came in ahead of the 2021 season.
Red Bull has quite a few issues to sort out ahead of next year’s campaign. From driver troubles to fixing the issues on the 2025 car, the team has a lot on its plate. Considering this, quite a few eyes will be on the outfit in Bahrain when their cars will first roll out during pre-season testing.
