Red Bull driver Max Verstappen has shared his thoughts on his team’s chances of winning this season’s constructors’ championship. The Milton-Keynes-based team currently stands second, having lost their lead to McLaren in the title race.

Max Verstappen‘s season has taken an unexpected turn for the worse since his last triumph at the Spanish GP. He has since failed to win in any of the races and was also struggling for balance and grip in the RB20 during the Baku race.

Verstappen has, however, urged his team not to give up on their efforts despite trailing in the championship. The 26-year-old has claimed that the Milton-Keynes squad will try to resolve their issues ahead of the next races.

What can I do for Singapore? Well, we're trying to optimise the set-up to understand what we did wrong here. I don't think it's going to be our best track, naturally, but we'll see. It might surprise us. It's never nice to see [McLaren leading the constructors' standings]. But the fight is not over yet. We'll try to get that back.

Verstappen himself will try to make amends in his preparation to capitalize upon the chances on track in a greater manner. The upcoming race in Singapore will come as a stern test for Red Bull, who seek to regain control of the title race.

The car was jumping around a lot. The wheels were coming off the ground in the low-speed corners. So when you don't have contact patch with the Tarmac, it's very difficult. We thought it would be a good direction to go into and [in] the end it wasn't.

Verstappen claimed that his car bounced along the kerbs and bumps of the challenging Baku city circuit. He further elaborated that the Milton-Keynes-based team’s approach ultimately did not work as they had expected.

The RB20 has been facing persistent issues in tracks with kerbs and bumps, ever since the midway point of last season. The issues have not yet been met with a concrete solution, which has landed Red Bull in a concerning situation for the remainder of 2024.
