The second free practice session for the Spanish GP began on Friday, June 21st. Max Verstappen managed to secure second position with Lando Norris in first and Carlos Sainz finishing third. Verstappen commented so far everything’s felt alright to him.
Max Verstappen after the second practice session said, everything is normal with the car. He mentioned, before the session team experimented with a few different setups to fine-tune the cars performance. Fortunately, the day went smoothly according to Verstappen, the race went without any significant problem, which is what team was aiming for.
Everything is normal. We just tried a few different set-ups out there, trying to find tune a little bit but at least I think the day itself was a bit more normal without any issues so that's what we were hoping for.Max Verstappen told SkySportsF1
The 26-year-old also explained that the team made some upgrades to the car, but these changes were not so large. Despite the upgrades being minor, everything with the car felt normal as expected. The car behaved normally without unexpected issues. Verstappen felt happy with the smooth performance and how the session went overall.

Helmut Marko claims having ‘Max Verstappen’ puts the team on the right track.
Helmut Marko commented on Max Verstappen’s performance in the second practice session. The 81-year-old said, having Verstappen by their side means they’re on the right track. Marko also mentioned that the track conditions will also change significantly by Sunday, especially the grip. Because of this it is crucial to have a car that performs well on the race day.

Further, Marko explained Verstappen has already tested the car under changing track conditions, but they think the car is not performing as they want it to. However, he noted that on Friday, they were closer to find the right set-up compared to past weekends. This progress makes Helmut Marko optimistic about their chances of success.

Overall, Helmut Marko reckoned the team is getting closer to having the car perform well. The 81-year-old is hopeful that the team will find the right adjustments before the race. Fans would love to see both the Red Bull drivers competing for first and second place as they did at the start.
