Max Verstappen‘s long-time girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, recently landed in hot water following her post on social media. Piquet took a look back at 2016 when she met Verstappen while she was 27 and the latter was a fresh adult and just 18. Nelson Piquet’s daughter is now facing allegations that she groomed a much younger person than herself. But she has responded to the critics and provided them with an epic response.
In recent days, a trend has emerged with social media users posting photographs of themselves from 2016. Kelly Piquet, who recently gave birth to a daughter, Lily, with Max Verstappen, did the same and shared multiple images from the past. Her last image contained a black-and-white picture of her with Verstappen back in 2016, with the latter being just 18 in Formula 1.
People took quick note of the age gap between the two back in 2016 and started criticizing her in the comments. Though Kelly Piquet replied to some of the hate comments, she had to put an end to the constant allegations of grooming a young adult. Piquet was having none of the allegations and claimed that the age difference was taken way out of proportion, and the nine-year age gap wasn’t much of a big deal.

Kelly Piquet responded to one of the comments and clarified that Max Verstappen was already 19 by the time the two met and fell in love. Moreover, Piquet has always maintained a stance that nothing happened between them back then. Now, the love has grown much more than before, and the two have matured a lot as well. Despite the criticism drawn from the people, Verstappen and Piquet love each other a lot and also have a daughter to prove their love further.

Max Verstappen is now 28 years old and a four-time F1 champ. He has earned enough fame and money in the world to live comfortably with his family. However, despite already having a daughter with Kelly Piquet, Verstappen has yet to put a ring on her finger. As such, the four-time champion was pushed to answer the question of marriage plans with Piquet.
Max Verstappen had a blunt and simple answer when asked about his marriage plans. Certainly, after having a kid, Verstappen would be thinking of making it official sometime soon. But the Dutchman noted that he had not yet planned it. However, he reassured that it was certainly in the cards and was going to happen soon. How soon, one can only wonder.

For now, Max Verstappen’s priority is certainly on the upcoming 2026 season and emerging as a winning force by then. Family will always be a big priority for the four-time champion. However, his commitment to Formula 1 is also a big deal, and he will honor and handle all the duties he has.
