Max Verstappen is preparing not only for the 2025 season but also to embrace fatherhood for the first time in his life. The Dutchman is already a ‘bonus’ dad to Kelly Piquet‘s daughter Penelope. With the baby’s due date approaching, Verstappen has shared updates on his girlfriend’s pregnancy.
Max Verstappen has previously quipped about wanting more time off to spend with his girlfriend and child. However, the 27-year-old will now have to balance both his racing career and fatherhood. The Dutchman also revealed the expected delivery date and his plan of action to attend the birth of his first child.
Verstappen disclosed that the baby is expected to arrive midway through the 2025 season, but definitely not before it begins. As such, the Dutchman might have to either miss a race or the birth of his child. Regardless, the 27-year-old highlighted that he was relaxed about the delivery and stated that he would be ‘fine’ and handle both duties.
Not before the start of the season. During the season. I’m relaxed about it, it’ll be fine.

Max Verstappen resents not getting ‘time off’ as a Formula 1 driver
Formula 1 drivers have limited breaks outside of the scheduled gaps between races and the summer break. This means that Verstappen won’t have much time to support Kelly Piquet during her trying times. The reigning world champion acknowledged that he couldn’t do much about this ‘unfortunate’ situation. However, the 27-year-old added that since he wasn’t the one giving birth, he remained relaxed about it.

Anything is possible, but in F1 that doesn’t exist. You cannot take two months off, If it happens, it happens. There’s nothing I can do about it. Unfortunately, F1 drivers don’t get time off, but at the same time I’m also not the one that is giving birth.
Max Verstappen noted
Verstappen prepares for the daunting task of performing well in the 2025 season amidst Red Bull’s performance struggle. The Dutchman recently gave a candid response about continuing his championship-winning streak. Given the recent disrespect directed at him, the 27-year-old may prioritize his family over the sport in the coming years.
