Max Verstappen has been dominating the scene in F1 for some time. The Dutchman claimed his 61st career win in Barcelona. On the other hand, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the most revered motorsports festivals featuring modern and historic classics in July. Subsequently, the reigning F1 champion is set to grace the spectacle in his title-winning Red Bull RB16B.
F1 teams have had an extensive presence at Goodwood throughout the years. The historic F1 cars have graced the show and have been where fans could get up and close to F1 machinery. However, this time, the stakes have risen as a reigning F1 champion would be present at the event for the first time to showcase his skills.
The Goodwood FOS X handle announced the major collaboration between them and Red Bull at next month’s event.
The Red Bull lineup, including Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, would be driving RB16B and RB19 up the hill. Moreover, the team principal and CEO, Christian Horner, will be driving the RB08, and the whole Red Bull class of 2024 will be present in Britain.
Goodwood Festival of Speed founder’s reaction to Max Verstappen’s participation
This news had left the motorsport world shocked. However, Verstappen is known for his interests outside the F1 kingdom. Thus, a move to participate in Goodwood is not out of sync. Still, this announcement made circles around the globe and was subsequently discussed by the event’s founder, Charles Gordon-Lennox, the Duke of Richmond.
The Duke of Richmond explained how this extensive participation by Red Bull would create an immaculate atmosphere during the festival.
To have both the current drivers – not to mention the reigning world champion – the CEO and team principal, as well as so many team icons is fantastic. Goodwood's motorsport events have always prided themselves on the access that they offer fans and I am delighted that Red Bull Racing has fulfilled our ambition by bringing together such an illustrious and outstanding group of drivers and cars.Charles Gordon-Lennox said in a press release by Goodwood FOS
The 69-year-old emphasized the presence of several current F1 drivers in the festival. He further stated that Goodwood has been providing entertainment to fans and is delighted by the Austrian marque’s step to have an expansive participation at the event.
Apart from this, former Red Bull drivers would also be present at the festival, including Daniel Ricciardo, and David Coulthard. Moreover, Adrian Newey designed the RB17 Hypercar would also break its covers at the event. Thus, preparing the festival to be one of the largest ever.
