Max Verstappen and George Russell find themselves in a war of words this weekend. Verstappen had lashed out at the Mercedes driver over a one-place grid drop last race. Following Russell’s recent remarks, the Dutch driver has once again made his feelings clear.

The four-time world champion was given a one-place grid penalty for being unnecessarily slow in front of Russell in Qualifying at Qatar GP. Max Verstappen blamed the Mercedes driver for this incident. While George Russell claimed that Verstappen threatened to drive him into the barriers.

Verstappen insisted that Russell’s comments were not true. The Dutchman claimed that the Mercedes driver was exaggerating things. Moreover, Max Verstappen expressed his anger over George Russell coming back to him like normal after having attacked him in an ‘unacceptable’ way in front of race control.

That’s not true, I didn’t say it like that. He’s trying to exaggerate it again. Do you know what else I can’t stand? That he attacks me in an unacceptable way with the stewards and then comes back a day later as if nothing is wrong and slaps me on the shoulder.

Max Verstappen surprised by George Russell’s two-faced behavior

The 27-year-old highlighted that he never changes his behavior. Max Verstappen emphasized that he remains the same, be it with the Stewards or with his family. However, the Dutchman took a dig at George Russell, stating that this was not the case with everyone in F1. The Red Bull driver claimed that he was not surprised by this trait in Russell’s personality.

With me you always get the same: here, at home, with the stewards; I don’t change. You can’t say that about everyone. But I’m not surprised by that with him.

Max Verstappen noted

Verstappen will not back down from his aggressive stance against George Russell. The 27-year-old has made it clear that he does not find himself in the wrong. However, Russell and Mercedes have not refrained from taking shots at the reigning world champion either.
