Max Verstappen was the center of major hate on social media following his on-track antics against Lando Norris at the Mexican GP. The Ex-F1 driver Johnny Herbert was one of the officials present at the race while penalizing the Dutchman with a 20-second penalty. Amidst this, Verstappen hit back at the extreme accusation from the Englishman over the past week.

Johnny Herbert‘s comments on bias in Formula 1 were taken offensively by Max Verstappen despite the former backing down on his claims. The Dutchman claimed that these comments proved where the Englishman stood in his view. Moreover, Verstappen believed that it was abnormal of Herbert to make such biased claims and called them pretty extreme accusations.

Well, now you know where he stands. It’s pretty abnormal for him to say this, right? People act like I’m doing it all on purpose. But they can’t see inside my head. They are pretty extreme accusations.

Verstappen believed that such incidents on track against one other were all part of racing in Formula 1. The Dutchman accepted that there was hard racing at the Mexican GP, especially against Lando Norris. However, Verstappen ended the claim by noting that sometimes the risks paid off while sometimes the drivers lost more than they waged with their driving.

Yes, we raced hard. That’s right. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

Max Verstappen recalled the Singapore swearing fiasco and berated Johnny Herbert

Apart from the hard-driving style, Max Verstappen also faced an uncertain situation at the Singapore GP after being penalized for swearing over the race weekend. Charles Leclerc was spotted throwing a cuss word on the team radio at the Mexican GP. Hence, Verstappen claimed that Johnny Herbert had his ‘big opinions’ ready but chose not to speak on this matter.

Then he [Herbert] had his big opinion ready. 5-year-olds hear that too. After Mexico, I didn’t hear him when Charles Leclerc said the same thing. Maybe the thought was that those 5-year-olds are all asleep by then.

These comments from Verstappen proved that he wasn’t afraid of showcasing his honest opinion on any matter. The sport has continued to increase in terms of double standards, especially against the non-British people. Hence, Formula 1 will continue to mend their ways after being berated by a majority of the people on the grid.
