Max Verstappen is the biggest talking point at the Canadian GP. The four-time world champion faces the risk of being banned from an F1 race if he gets penalized in Montreal. This topic has continued to garner attention from the entire paddock. So much so, that Verstappen has expressed his frustration over the situation.
After his collision with George Russell at the Spanish GP, Max Verstappen was handed three penalty points to his super license alongside a ten-second time penalty. This brought his penalty points total to 11, just one short of a race ban. With even Red Bull warning the Dutchman from making any rash decisions this weekend.
Max Verstappen managed to qualify on the front row for the Canadian GP, right behind George Russell. During the post-qualifying press conference, Verstappen was asked about the risk of a race ban on Sunday. The 27-year-old simply lashed out, claiming that he had heard enough about it. Verstappen demanded the media to stop wasting his time over such speculation. Additionally, the Red Bull star did not hesitate from calling these comments to be childish and annoying.
I don’t need to hear it again. It’s really pissing me off. You speaking about it, on Thursday, it’s such a waste of time. It’s childish. It’s really annoying.

Interestingly, George Russell had taken a subtle dig at Verstappen over the penalty points situation after the session. The Mercedes star hinted that he had more room to battle it out for victory on Sunday compared to the reigning world champion.
Verstappen not impressed with penalty points picture coming up in the post-qualy presser: "I don’t need to hear it again. It’s really pissing me off. You speaking about it, on Thursday, it’s such a waste of time. It’s childish. It’s really annoying." #F1 #CanadianGP

Max Verstappen happy with Red Bull at Canadian GP
Despite the off-track scrutiny, things seem to have improved for Max Verstappen on-track. The Dutchman has faced trouble with the RB21 since the start of the season, as Milton Keynes fell behind McLaren in terms of performance. After a handful of difficult runs, it seems that Verstappen might finally be comfortable with his car again.

The reigning world champion asserted that he was feeling positive in Montreal. Verstappen cited that the team got the RB21 in the ideal window for qualifying, allowing him to clinch a place on the front row. The 27-year-old enjoys the Canadian circuit, claiming that the cars often feel like go-karts at this track. Moreover, the long straights and low-speed corners further make it an exciting place to race.
Yeah, I think I felt quite good all weekend. The car actually was in a good window. This track is quite cool. It feels a bit like a big go-kart on the kerbs. And then, of course, you have the long straights, heavy braking. You need to be quite efficient on the straights, which I think we are, in general.

Certainly, Max Verstappen has his eyes set on victory at the Canadian GP. The Dutch driver is not going to pay attention to off-track chatter about the race ban scenario. Rather, the Red Bull star will race the way he always has in Formula 1 in a bid to defeat Russell on Sunday. Fans should not be surprised if the two arch-rivals end up in another high-stakes battle in the race.
