Max Verstappen has had a controversial 2024 season campaign on and off-track. The three-time world champion has faced a penalty from the FIA swearing ban. Now, Verstappen has mentioned that the sport has become more politically correct in the past few months.

The Grand Prix Drivers’ Association issued a statement in defense of Max Verstappen recently. This has sparked further controversy within the paddock. Although, the FIA is yet to give a response to the drivers regarding the situation.

Verstappen mentioned that Formula 1 has always been politically correct. However, the Dutch driver insisted that the recent developments have made the sport less enjoyable. The 27-year-old indirectly took aim at the FIA’s recent decisions.

Max Verstappen not going to say ‘too much’ over tensions with FIA

The Red Bull driver was unsure how things will change regarding this situation in the coming months. However, Max Verstappen emphasized that he was simply not going to talk much in FIA conferences. The 27-year-old often resorts to brief one-word responses during race weekends. The 27-year-old claimed that he was just living his life in and outside the paddock.

If it gets worse, I don’t know. But for me, I prefer not to say too much. [I am] just living my life, doing what I have to do on the race weekends, but also the outside of that.

It seems Verstappen will not be backing down on his stance regarding the swearing ban anytime soon. The three-time world champion has stood firm on his ground so far. Now, fans would need to wait and see how the FIA tries to handle the situation as the 2024 season heads for the final three races.
