Max Verstappen has dominated Formula 1 since the start of the ground-effect era in 2022. The Dutch driver has won three back-to-back world titles since 2023 and hopes to secure his fourth this season. However, Verstappen has faced stiff competition in recent rounds.
Rivals seemed to have caught up with Milton Keynes in terms of performance due to inevitable convergence on the grid. Ferrari and McLaren have already won races this year with Mercedes lamenting its defeat in Canada. Nevertheless, Max Verstappen has won seven races including a great performance in Barcelona last weekend.
Many reckoned that Verstappen and Red Bull would no longer enjoy their dominance this season. This has come true to an extent with Sergio Perez nowhere close to the front of the grid in Spain. However, it seems that Max Verstappen remains in a league of his own despite stiff competition in 2024.
Max Verstappen is bringing Red Bull victories
In 2023, Max Verstappen had a record-breaking campaign. However, some claimed that Red Bull’s dominant RB19 was behind this success. Now, things have changed, with even Toto Wolff stating that its Verstappen who is winning races and not Red Bull. As it is evident that the Dutch driver’s skills allow him to defeat the rest of the competition.
The reigning world champion seems to never crack under high pressure situations, something that does happen to his counterparts. Recently, Helmut Marko even claimed that Lando Norris does not drive faultlessly which Verstappen was capable of. Although, the Austrian admitted that the Dutch driver can’t push himself to the limit at every race.
Max Verstappen currently leads the championship by 69 points to second-placed Norris. With over half of the season remaining, things could change drastically if McLaren manages to out-develop Red Bull. However, the Austrian team will be banking on its star driver to continue his incredible run this season.
Certainly, Verstappen remains the biggest strength of Red Bull. The three-time world champion continues to have an upper hand on his competition despite not always having the fastest car. Fans would be hoping to witness more exciting drives from Max Verstappen as he tries to secure his fourth title in a row this season.
