Max Verstappen has raced and worked closely with the crew at Red Bull ever since his debut in 2016. The Dutchman shares a great bond with the top personnel of the team, especially Christian Horner and Helmut Marko. Both the leaders also have a great liking for the Red Bull star. However, the Dutchman refused to place either of them over the other in terms of his loyalty.
Max Verstappen has stayed extremely loyal to Red Bull as he claimed that even $250 Million wouldn’t witness him exiting the team. Even the outfit has treated the Dutchman lovingly as they backed the reigning world champion on multiple occasions. Speaking upon his bond with Helmut Marko and Christian Horner, Verstappen made it clear that both the bonds were different. However, the 27-year-old noted that he owes much to the 81-year-old for trusting him during his teenage years.
Moreover, amidst rumors of Helmut Marko’s sacking from Red Bull, Max Verstappen was thought to follow the Austrian out of the team. Hence, Verstappen revealed that he built a relationship of deep trust with Marko apart from racing in Formula 1. The Dutchman highlighted that both people had a lot of respect for each other.
Max Verstappen saw Helmut Marko as a ‘family member’ and less as a ‘boss’
Max Verstappen’s dominant performances in Formula 1 meant that Helmut Marko was extremely proud of his protege. Verstappen reckoned that his first win and world championship was an emotional affair for both of them. As a result, this closeness between the two was the reason that the Dutchman saw the 81-year-old as more of a family member and less as a coworker.
Red Bull’s performance struggle in the 2024 season has caught Verstappen in the whirlwind as he is unable to score race wins anymore. Regardless, Marko’s close bond with the 27-year-old will continue to flourish over the years. Moreover, the 81-year-old will continue to showcase his strongest support towards his protege at the pinnacle of motorsport.
