Since his F1 debut, while Max Verstappen has conquered many tracks, there are still a few where he hasn’t yet claimed victory. The Marina Bay Street Circuit is one of them, with car setup issues and strategy missteps costing him the win in 2023.

Another track where Verstappen hasn’t won or even had a second chance to try is Mugello, which hosted the Tuscan GP. F1 added it to the 2020 calendar when COVID-19 restrictions forced changes, but it hasn’t returned since that one-off race through 2024.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the risk of transmission through contact, many traditional Grand Prix events were canceled in 2020. To fill the calendar, Formula 1 added new venues, including the Tuscan GP at Mugello. However, this race has not appeared again since then.

In the 2020 Tuscan GP, Max Verstappen had an unfortunate outing, retiring early due to mechanical issues. He also had a collision which prevented him from competing for a win. However, the Dutchman recently expressed his desire to race at Mugello once again.

Verstappen highlighted the Italian track’s layout, featuring a fantastic series of fast corners. While many circuits have ‘stop and go’ sections, Mugello stands out with exciting high-speed turns that test a driver’s skills. These corners allow drivers to maintain high speeds, creating thrilling moments and providing an adrenaline rush for both drivers and fans.

The Tuscan countryside around the track makes it a beautiful and great place for racing. The three-time world champion believes the track should be brought back to the F1 calendar in future seasons.

I would like to have Mugello on the calendar . It is a track with a sequence of very fast corners. In the World Championship there are many ‘stop and go’ circuits, but this one has a fantastic series of fast corners.

However, Red Bull has faced challenges with its car, leading to it finishing as the fourth fastest in some races. This decline in performance has drawn criticism from fans and pundits. Many expected Red Bull to maintain its early dominance throughout the season.

Max Verstappen, despite the scrutiny, finds the criticism of Red Bull bizarre. He recognizes that ups and downs are part of the racing game.

People always come up with different stuff. I find it really bizarre how they come up with some of these things, but it is what it is. It’s part of the game, but I usually just let it go.

Max Verstappen told Motorsport

Red Bull still has six races, including three sprints, left to reclaim its lead in the Constructors’ Championship and silence the critics. Teams have enough time to identify and resolve car issues, enabling them to compete more effectively in the season’s final stretch.
