The 2024 Qatar GP was an extremely controversial affair for Max Verstappen and George Russell. The reason was that Verstappen received a never-seen-before one-place grid penalty. Russell had reportedly dragged the case to the stewards and caused a penalty to the Dutchman. The 27-year-old wasn’t mincing his words as he did not regret whatever he said that day.

Max Verstappen had gone too far in commenting against George Russell after winning the Qatar GP. The Dutchman asked Russell to ‘f**k off’ and called the latter a ‘two-faced’ person. Even the Briton took offense to the comments and provided a stern response to the former. Hence, as the season finale comes up, Verstappen was questioned if he regretted whatever he said on Sunday.

Verstappen had a short and simple answer to this question. The championship winner noted that he didn’t regret anything he said as he ‘meant’ all of it. Moreover, the Red Bull star reckoned that he had never seen such a questionable ruling from the stewards. The Dutchman reiterated that he found Russell’s behavior ‘unacceptable.’

No, I meant every word. I’ve never experienced anything like that from the stewards. I found his behavior really unacceptable.

Max Verstappen recalled Qatar GP start and further disrespected George Russell

George Russell started the race from pole position but still couldn’t triumph in the outing. Verstappen took the easy lead from pole and clinched his ninth victory in the 2024 season. The Dutchman recalled that Russell started the race from pole but was still 300m behind off the start. Moreover, the 27-year-old claimed the Briton had to ‘dramatize’ the situation just to start from the lead of the pack.

Thanks to this quarrel with the stewards, they started in pole position, yet he was already 300 metres behind. I was very comfortable with the stewards, I had already won the championship. But in order to start first, George had to dramatise the situation.
