Max Verstappen once again missed out on victory this weekend, marking his fifth consecutive race without a win. Despite his best efforts to overtake Lando Norris, McLaren’s strong pace made it difficult for Verstappen to close the gap, which left him trailing behind Norris. However, the Dutchman expressed no emotions over not winning at Zandvoort.

Max Verstappen responded with an unbothered attitude about not winning the recent races and put things into perspective. He mentioned that he had many successful years in his career, winning multiple races and even championships. He acknowledged that some of the drivers never got a chance to win a single race in their career. The Dutchman emphasized his current losing streak wasn’t the end of the world, reminding everyone there are more races ahead.

I’ve had a lot of good years, some people have never won a race in their career.

Verstappen acknowledged that at the moment Red Bull doesn’t have the fastest car on the grid. He mentioned they are working hard to improve the car’s performance and that he is very focused on making it better. The Dutchman also pointed out that there are still many races left in the season with more opportunities to succeed. The 26-year-old admitted Zandvoort wasn’t their best but stayed optimistic about turning things around for the rest of the season.

At the moment we don't have the fastest car, we're working on that, I'm very focused on it, there's still a lot of races left, this weekend wasn't just our best weekend.

Max Verstappen claims there was no grip advantage on left side of the track in Zandvoort

Max Verstappen doesn’t believe that the left-hand side of the track has better grip at the start, making it easier for drivers to overtake. He said he didn’t think that was the case and felt his own start was decent, although he experienced some wheelspin. He also mentioned that Sergio Perez also had a good start from the left-hand side as well. The Dutchman highlighted their good starts came from the team’s efforts and not from any advantage of the track’s grip.

I don't think so. I think the start was alright, I had a bit of wheelspin as well. But I think Checo had a good start also on the left-hand side. So I think we just got it right as a team probably.
Max Verstappen stated.

Certainly, Max Verstappen didn’t believe the grip favored their starts, he saw it as a complete team effort that helped both him and Perez. Zandvoort served as a reality check for Red Bull, showing they hadn’t reached the top level yet. They still have a lot of work to do to compete at the highest level.
