Max Verstappen recently took part in a Nürburgring Nordschleife test as part of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Series (NLS). Despite being one of the greatest drivers in Formula 1, the Dutchman was a rookie there and drove a lower-spec Porsche Cayman GT4. Verstappen performed well and earned his Permit A licence, which now makes him eligible to compete in the prestigious Nürburgring 24 Hours.

Max Verstappen passed all the requirements to gain a permit A license, as he can now finally partake in the Nürburgring 24 Hours race. During the Nordschleife test, Verstappen drove exceptionally despite running in a detuned car compared to the rest of the grid. Now that the Dutchman has a shot at the GT3 racing format, he still isn’t too cocky about his chances to succeed.

Verstappen had already tested around the Nordschleife circuit back in May and had reportedly shattered the world record there. Now, the Dutchman can officially partake in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, which will be held in the coming year. Even though the 27-year-old is a four-time champion in the pinnacle of motorsport, he insisted that he wouldn’t take the same mindset over to the GT3 format, a category that he truly loves.

Speaking on his debut at the Nürburgring, Max Verstappen asserted that he wouldn’t walk around the circuit thinking too highly of himself because of his F1 achievements. The Dutchman noted that his F1 records would be truly pointless in the GT3 category. Moreover, Verstappen highlighted that he really enjoyed motorsport and trying out different categories, and he wouldn’t want to be positioned differently from other drivers in the same sport.

I’m not going to walk around there [at the Nürburgring] acting like I’m a four-time world champion, because it’s truly pointless in the end. I really enjoy doing it, you know, so why would I position myself differently towards other people?

After a successful outing during the Nordschleife test, Max Verstappen reflected that the ultimate dream in his career was to partake in the 24 Hours of Nürburgring race. As such, Verstappen emphasized that he had to get his Permit A license and start trying his hand at the GT3 categories as well. For now, the Dutchman will have to focus on his struggles in Formula 1, but he will surely come up as an impressive force in the GT3 category.

It’s kind of my hobby as well, racing in other kinds of motorsport than just F1. And of course, my dream is eventually to do the 24-hour race, so I knew that the licence needed to come. So it was the perfect opportunity to do so.
