“We’re not robots,” Max Verstappen remains realistic about gaining more performance against rivals in 2024

Red Bull at the beginning of the season was the fastest on the grid with Max Verstappen taking a dominant victory in Bahrain. However, they have seen a drastic fall in their performance from the last few races which put their title on a risk. Verstappen addressed the issues regarding performance in recent races.
Max Verstappen explained that Red Bull have been struggling to find the perfect performance for the current season. He stated that while it was natural to always seek ways to improve and do better. There came a point where it was necessary to accept that perhaps the best possible performance had already been achieved. However, Verstappen mentioned that it has to be more realistic to focus on maintaining high-level performance that has already passed. He highlighted staying at the top is very challenging and requires a lot of effort.

Verstappen highlighted that they are not robots and acknowledged that it’s tough not to compare themselves to their performance from last year. He explained that this is just how things go in Formula 1. It’s normal to look back and compare, but it’s important to remember that every season is different, and each has its own set of challenges.

Max Verstappen mentioned that operating at a high level from recent years is something Red Bull might look at in 20 years and appreciate. He explained that currently, it’s hard to fully grasp the effort and achievements of the team because they are focused on the present challenges. In the future, they might better appreciate the hard work and dedication that defined their performance and team achievements.

Verstappen highlighted that even Red Bull doesn’t have the fastest car right now, it doesn’t change his mindset. He mentioned They are always trying to get back to that top level of performance. The Dutchman explained that their approach and determination remains the same, regardless of the car’s speed. They are constantly working hard to improve and achieve the best results they can after the summer break comes to an end.
