Max Verstappen quickly rose to success after debuting in Formula 1 at just 17 years old. The Dutchman has won three consecutive world championships since the 2021 season. Additionally, he broke multiple world records in Formula 1 after winning the 2023 championship. However, ahead of the 2024 Austrian GP, the 26-year-old claimed he was least concerned with breaking records in the pinnacle of motorsport.
Max Verstappen continues to break multiple records even in the 2024 season, consecutive pole positions being the most recent. Verstappen had previously made it clear that such records didn’t matter much to him. Additionally, the Dutchman claimed he had achieved everything he wanted from Formula 1 after winning the world championship three times.
Heading to Red Bull’s home race in Austria, Verstappen reiterated that records weren’t of importance to him. The 26-year-old reckoned that having a good and strong chassis was necessary to keep such performances going.
Records don’t really mean anything. You need to have a good car, strong car to be able to keep the performances up.Max Verstappen said, as reported by F1TV.
Max Verstappen claims last few races were about ‘making the right calls’ for Red Bull
Red Bull had started the 2024 season off in great form. However, the team started to face multiple problems as the older simulator data issues started giving further problems. Additionally, the RB20 faced multiple challenges while maneuvering over the kerbs and bumps. Regardless, the recent few races have seen a shift of pace for Milton Keynes as Verstappen won the races despite a difficult drive.
Max Verstappen highlighted that the Austrian outfit needed to work on finding more performance to win races comfortably. Additionally, the world champion noted that the previous few outings were more about being present at the right moment. And also, making the right calls was equally important to score such impressive race wins.
At the moment we need to try and find that little bit more performance to comfortably win. Our last few wins were more about being there at the right moment to make the right calls as a team.
Max Verstappen added.
Red Bull has showcased great consistency ever since the season began, despite the recent struggles. Hence, Milton Keynes will have to keep up with the in-season upgrades to continue winning the development war. McLaren has proven to be the faster car around multiple circuits against Red Bull’s dominant pace in the 2024 season.
