The environment at Red Bull seems quite tense as they have not yet recovered from Max Verstappen’s 22-second loss in Zandvoort. Milton Keynes needs to improve their car’s pace before the race in Monza. They still sit at first with a 30 points gap to McLaren which can be reduced anytime soon if they fail to make the necessary adjustments to the car. Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has called the situation concerning.
Max Verstappen believed that the weekend in Zandvoort was just simply bad for the team, and they needed to figure out why. He also pointed out that the results from the last few races haven’t been great either. This has made the situation somewhat worrying for a while. However, Verstappen reckoned while this weekend was particularly disappointing, it’s part of a pattern of underperformance that has been concerning.
I think this weekend was just a bad weekend in general, so we need to understand that. But the last few races haven't really been fantastic already. In a sense, I think it was already a bit alarming.Max Verstappen told F1 TV
Max Verstappen stated that there’s no need to panic despite the recent issues. He explained that the team is focused on improving their situation and working hard on it. The Dutchman noted that Formula 1 is a very complex sport with many factors and challenges involved. The teams need to tackle it by consistently evolving and adapting the change needed in the car’s. Therefore, while the team is actively working to get better, they understand that the sport’s complexity makes it a difficult task.
But we know that we don't need to panic. We are just trying to improve the situation, and that's what we are working on. But F1 is very complicated.Max Verstappen added.
Helmut Marko reveals the problem with the RB20
Helmut Marko mentioned that they have a good idea of where the problems are. He explained that the car needs to be more balanced, then the drivers feel more confident and the car slides around less. So, fixing the balance of the car will help the drivers feel more in control.
We know roughly where the problems lie. There needs to be more balance in the car. Balance means that the drivers have more confidence and slides less.Helmut Marko told Motorsport-total
Certainly, Helmut Marko believed that balance is the major issue Red Bull is struggling with. He thinks they can improve their performance by reducing the car’s tendency to slide during races. Fans hope that the team makes the necessary adjustments before the next race in Monza so that Red Bull can compete for wins.
