Red Bull Racing driver, Max Verstappen has shared his thoughts on the team’s performance this year. The Milton-Keynes outfit currently leads the championship but has been far from their usual dominant self.
Max Verstappen has won six out of the nine races this season, with the Dutch driver eyeing a fourth consecutive world championship. But despite his compelling standards, the 26-year-old driver has looked vulnerable on multiple occasions.
Verstappen elaborated that there are some problems with Red Bull this season that are not easy to explain and will take time to get a hold of. He also said there have not been issues with reliability with the RB20 and the team is focused on their goals.
I think we are also very focused, we are still doing a lot of things right. But for whatever reason, we are not in that same flow as we had last year where everything just seemed to be going really well for us, at most places. No reliability issues. And I don't know for whatever reason, it's all a bit more difficult this year. Some things are a bit hard to explain as well.Max Verstappen via RacingNews365
The Milton-Keynes outfit lacks the flow they had last season but is still one of the best teams on the grid. Despite the few 2024 setbacks, the outfit has been quite consistent and will look to continue its form and further perfect the issues with the car in the upcoming races.
Red Bull not looking to compromise aero-prowess amid kerb issue fixation
Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner claimed that the team are on the task of fixing their issues with kerb riding but will not compromise on the aerodynamic aspects of the car. The team has struggled around circuits that require the usage of kerb riding and offer bumpy pavement.
All of it has to work in tandem, so you are pushing the aerodynamic platform of the car, but you want the car to ride kerbs. We know that this is a weakness and I also know that we are flat out working on it to try and fix it, because I really feel like it's quite a big performance limitation for us at the moment.Christian Horner via Autosport
Red Bull has had prevalent issues with the handling of the RB20 around circuits that have more kerbs and bumps. However, the team is confident of its capability to fix these issues even though it will require a significant amount of time and effort from their side.
That being said, Christian Horner responded that the team is keen to run on traditional high-speed circuits where they can maximize their performance in qualifying and races. The upcoming event in Barcelona will provide the reigning champions with exactly what they need and considering this, their outing during the three-day race weekend will be a fascinating watch.
