Red Bull began the season with high ambitions of recreating its 2023 success. However, eight races into 2024, the Austrian manufacturer seems to be struggling to get the RB20 within its working window and has lost two races in the past three Grand Prix. Reflecting on the subpar performances, Max Verstappen has claimed that the Milton Keynes-based squad cannot wrap their head around the fundamental problem with the car.

In 2023, Red Bull only witnessed a single defeat throughout the season, in Singapore, a track known for its bumpy nature. The team managed the issue and brought the rest of the first-place trophies to Milton Keynes. However, to the team’s dismay, Red Bull’s lack of adaptability to street tracks has gone on to bite them in 2024 as Ferrari and Charles Leclerc emerged victorious in Monaco.

Despite lamenting the race as boring after finishing P6, Max Verstappen later admitted that the car has a fundamental problem.

It is a fundamental problem, so it is not something that will be fixed within weeks. We need to understand what it is, because we clearly don't understand it.
Max Verstappen said in an interview with Motorsport

The Dutchman reckoned that the car cannot run in a firm setting around street tracks. This lack of adaptability in RB20’s nature has been the sole reason for the team losing out on winning races in the ongoing season. Moreover, he affirms that the team does not understand why the car has such peculiar characteristics, and he does not expect it to be resolved in the following weeks.

Max Verstappen boasts about his loyalty to Red Bull

Despite losing out on winning the Monaco GP for a third time, the reigning champion is known for his loyalty towards the Red Bull stable. On the other hand, he is contracted with the Austrian marque until the end of 2028 and intends to complete his tenure with the team amidst rumors.

Amid such speculations, Verstappen assured his loyalty to the Red Bull camp.

I am quite a loyal person and it is something that means a lot to me. That is what I request from the team and so far that has always been great and that is what I want to keep for a long time. It would be amazing to finish my career here at Red Bull. All the years staying basically at one team would be incredible.
Max Verstappen said in an interview with The Guardian

The triple champion claimed that he is a loyal person and expects the same to be reciprocated by the team. He further elaborated that the idea of finishing his career at Red Bull seems quite lucrative.

Despite Verstappen being loyal to Red Bull, if the team does not prepare a car to fight for championships with in the future, there is a high possibility that he might decide to switch teams and find a new home on the grid. Thus, the Austrian manufacturer has to keep performing amidst fears of key personnel leaving to save the Dutchman from shifting teams.
