Red Bull’s dwindling pace in the 2024 season has caused multiple key figures to consider exiting the team. Major names such as Adrian Newey, Jonathan Wheatley, and many more have already left. Hence, amidst the ongoing mass exodus at Milton Keynes, Max Verstappen believed that the constructor couldn’t force people to stay.
Max Verstappen‘s contract with Red Bull runs until the end of the 2028 season amidst the ever-present Mercedes rumors. The Dutchman noted that he preferred the team to stay the same as it was without any major changes. However, the 27-year-old reckoned that Red Bull couldn’t force people to stay against their will.
Verstappen’s record-breaking form in the 2023 season was possible due to the continuous efforts of each and every one of the crew members. As a result, it was obvious that the Dutchman was wary about the massive change in the team’s personnel. Verstappen highlighted that it would’ve been better if the team stayed the same collectively.
Max Verstappen asserted people start ‘picking apart’ successful teams like Red Bull
Several individuals were extremely eager to pounce on the opportunity to poach Adrian Newey amidst his departure rumors. Max Verstappen claimed that people trying to pick apart the members of the successful teams was common in Formula 1. Additionally, the big offers from the rival teams made the leap more lucrative for the crew members.
Red Bull will have to work extremely hard on their 2024 pace if they want to have a shot at the constructors’ championship. Verstappen is continuously losing the top spot running to in-form Lando Norris. The Dutchman must put forth his A-game in the remaining six races to ensure his fourth consecutive driver’s championship.
