Max Verstappen and Red Bull faced a real challenge in Formula 1 for the first time since 2021 last year. The Dutch driver had to fight tooth and nail to win the world title. Now, Verstappen has praised his team for not losing calm during the tough season.
The four-time world champion had a great start to his campaign last year with seven wins in the first ten races. However, things quickly took a turn for the worse as McLaren jumped ahead in the pecking order. Max Verstappen reckoned that he feels proud when he looks back at his successful title defense against Lando Norris.
The start of the year was very nice. But then now, especially looking back at it, having to face the tough moments in that year as well, is something that I’m quite proud of.
Max Verstappen said in a Team Redline livestream
The Red Bull star pointed out that in such a situation, it would’ve been easy for Milton Keynes to lose its head and start panicking. This could’ve potentially derailed the entire campaign. Nevertheless, Max Verstappen highlighted that the Austrian team managed to stay calm and bounce back successfully.
It’s easy to lose your head and start stressing about everything. But we actually, I think we did very well to keep calm.
Max Verstappen stated
Red Bull’s 2024 campaign ‘more rewarding’ for Max Verstappen
The reigning world champion was asked which win was his special moment of the past season. Verstappen insisted that it would be easy to name a single victory. However, the Dutch driver emphasized that it feels more rewarding when he and the team are able to come back stronger from a difficult position in the season.

You can always say wins, blah, blah, they are great. But at one point, I think some things are also more rewarding. It’s how we just kept it together as a team.
Max Verstappen replied
Certainly, Max Verstappen is happy to have won his fourth title in a row last year. The 27-year-old would now be shifting focus onto the upcoming season. The four-time world champion will hope that Red Bull kicks off the 2025 season with a noticeable performance advantage against their rivals.
