Verstappen: Checo, maybe. He likes to pull some tricks on team members.

Max Verstappen said in an interview with Sport Bible

Perez has been on an underperforming spell for Red Bull all season long. Despite having agreed to a contract extension until the end of 2026, the Mexican has not been able to justify his worth. His aim will now be to make maximum efforts and secure good results with hopes of salvaging his chances.

I think we’ve got a fundamental issue at the moment with the car that is just not working for me and that at the moment we come to the weekends and we just explore a lot of things—it’s just a difficult one to make it work. You want to be up there, especially since I know what I can do. But when you don’t have that grip underneath you, then it’s really hard, and you’re prone to a lot of mistakes and so on.

Perez claims that the RB20 has a fundamental issue, which is making it harder for him to come to grips with the car. The 34-year-old initially anticipated a tough weekend but was left distraught regardless after the result.

As has been the case for most weekends, Perez yet again finds himself picking up the pieces before the race on Sunday. Starting at P16, his realistic goal will be to finish within the points in the upcoming cold race in Las Vegas.
