The three-time F1 world champion Max Verstappen has provided an update on the team’s progress regarding their issues ahead of the Azerbaijan GP. The Milton Keynes-based team has greatly struggled against the likes of McLaren and Ferrari in the past few races.

Red Bull has persistently faced issues with their RB20 despite winning seven races this year. Having won the Spanish Grand Prix in June, the team has been unable to perform at par with the competitiveness of its rivals.

I was in the simulator in the run-up to the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grand Prix. Monza was a tough race and our priority is to get back into shape. We always want to be more competitive and the team has worked hard to improve the issues from the last few races. It is always a nice challenge and an interesting circuit to drive on, partly because it is a street circuit with long straights. We are ready to race again and see what the weekend brings.

The Milton-Keynes-based team heads to Baku looking to secure the win for the first time in six races. They will be heavily challenged by McLaren and Ferrari, who seek to extend their ongoing run of good performances.

Ex-F1 racer claims Max Verstappen will find it difficult to defend the title this year

German F1 legend Hans-Joachim Stuck has warned Max Verstappen of his chances in the drivers’ championship this campaign. Verstappen is currently the reigning world champion, having won the title consecutively since 2021.

He still has the will to work hard. But he is being held back by a car that is not perfect for him. He has to prove his driving skills and show that he can compete with a car that is not up to the level of the others. It will be difficult for him to defend the title.
Hans-Joachim Stuck said via Eurosport

Joachim Stuck has commented on the incompetence of Red Bull’s RB20 against others this season. Stuck then claimed that Verstappen’s chances would solely be centered around his driving skills rather than the ability of his car.

The Dutchman has had the fastest car on the grid since 2022, which has greatly helped him in performing well. However, this year will prove to be a pure test for Verstappen, who has to perform extremely well if he wishes to bag the fourth title of his career.
