Red Bull’s disastrous pace on track further took a hit after the team suffered from a massive blunder. The team had reportedly planned an upgrade in the rear wing for the Las Vegas GP. However, Milton Keynes mistakenly packed the incorrect setup of rear wings and couldn’t use the newer one. Max Verstappen blamed the rear wing issue for his missed opportunity to secure pole position in the qualifying session.
Max Verstappen had already faced gripping issues throughout the Las Vegas GP practice sessions. Moreover, the incorrect rear wing fiasco was yet another problematic situation for the team in America. As a result, the 27-year-old failed to clinch the pole position at the circuit amidst multiple problems with the chassis, especially grip.
Verstappen recalled the entire week’s performance and noted that the team was struggling to get the tires working over a lap. Additionally, the chassis was slow on the straight due to the rear wing being trimmed down a lot. As a result, the team couldn’t gain speed on the track like the rivals during the DRS zones.

Max Verstappen claims Red Bull ‘at fault’ for the ‘complicated situation’ at the Las Vegas GP
The incorrect rear wing blunder further might be the nail in the coffin for Max Verstappen’s championship victory ambitions in Las Vegas. Speaking upon the rear wing, Verstappen reckoned that the race was made complicated by the team. The team had to compromise performance after being at fault for packing the wrong materials for the race.
Verstappen has still qualified in P5 ahead of Lando Norris down in P6. The Dutchman will have a better start than Norris at the antepenultimate race of the 2024 season. Hence, the 27-year-old will give it his all in the race to move up the pecking order and score impressive results at the Las Vegas GP.
